Bread Runner Up...

We tried this bread recipe...it's my 2nd favorite. I'll post the favorite next week

  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup coconut (or whatever you have) oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 7 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup flax seed
  • 1/4 cup cracked wheat
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups bread flour (we used 2 of WW and 2 unbleached white)
Mix it well, knead it, then let it double for about an hour.
Punch it down, put it into 4 balls and let em rise again, or just put them in the pans and let them rise for about an hour again.

Bake em for 25 minutes on 375.

It's pretty good for how healthy it is, but the bread we  usually make every week will be posted next week.  Doesn't have all those seeds and junk in it.

  1. This looks good. I'll have to try it sometime soon. I've never put eggs in my bread. I imagine that gives it a richer flavor. I've been experiemnting and perfecting my 9 grain recipe recently with no white flour at all--I'd love for you to share your recipe if you've ever made that.
Love all the great recipes you've shared!
